ABOUT US

The North Star Charter School PTO supports all grades, K-12th. Our mission is to institute and sustain a close relationship between the parents, teachers, and students by evolving opportunities within the home, school, and community. The PTO provides assistance to teachers within the classroom settings, raises funds for educational materials and experiences, and advocates school and family social interaction. It is our belief that the team effort of a parent teacher organization helps to create the best possible learning environment for our children.

PTO BOARD

The PTO Board is a small subset of parents who volunteer time to support NSCS. There are many roles for parents to volunteer and committees for each event and program that the PTO supports. Please volunteer for one of the many options by emailing the board at pto@nscspto.org

Staff Appreciation Luncheon-Wed. Dec.4

Our next Staff Appreciation will be this Wednesday, December 4th. The staff at North Star REALLY looks forward to these luncheons, so let’s show them how much we appreciate all that they do for our children. December’s theme is HOLIDAY FAVORITES!

Participation is so easy! Please sign up for an item or two (or three!) and then mark your calendar so you don’t forget. Items can be homemade or purchased. The morning of Dec. 4th, someone will be outside to accept your items starting at 9am. If you have a crockpot or dish you need returned, you can collect those items beginning at 2pm in the elementary office. Please label all dishes/utensils with your name.

Pizza Friday Half-Year Links and More!

The second half of the year is quickly approaching! If you didn’t purchase pizza for the whole year and you would like to “set it and forget it,” now is your chance! From now until the end of December, you will be able to purchase pizza for the second half of the year- which is January-May. We will still have weekly options to purchase for the remainder of the year as well.

Westside Spirit Night-January 3rd

Family Tubing-Monday, January6th

Bring the whole family for tubing at Gateway Parks Eagle Island on Monday, January 6 (non-student day). PTO has rented the facility for two sessions. 4:00-5:30 and 5:45-7:15. We are encouraging families with younger children to attend the first session and families with older children to attend the second. However, we realize that many families have children in a wide range of ages so that is merely a suggestion. This event will be a blast for the whole family!

Tickets are only $15/person. PTO is paying a portion of the original ticket price to make this event fun and affordable! Please only select one session as this event is expected to fill up. We’d like as many families to participate as we can! You must complete one waiver for each participant. In order to make this as streamlined as possible for our volunteers, please complete the waiver when you purchase your tubing tickets.

More About North Star Teachers

Ever wondered what to get your child’s teacher? Wonder where they like to shop or if they have a favorite football team? We’ve asked the staff a few questions and have compiled an excel spreadsheet for you to get to know your child(ren)’s teacher(s) better!

What Has PTO Been Doing?

During this holiday season, we want to take a minute to thank YOU for your continued support for PTO through food purchase, attending events, kind words, and so much more. Our PTO is an all-volunteer board who works tirelessly and joyfully to host events and bring food options to your students. As a result of your generosity, we have been able to bring more events to North Star this year than any other previous year! In addition to hosting events, the first half of the year also consisted of donating back to North Star in a variety of ways! Here’s just a few ways PTO has been able to give back!

  • New Chromebooks
  • Funds to help with school beautification
  • Power washer
  • New carts to store recess equipment
  • New books in the elementary school library
  • Snacks for the sixth graders attending MOSS
  • Meals for teachers during conferences
